Dragon's in My Heart

This is a poem I wrote last year in my English class. I thought I should dig out something old to post today because I was too lazy to write a new one.

I did the dragon’s will until you came;
Yet tender.

You came; his power o’er me dimmed by your love,

Jealousy burned his bronze scales; a lingering pain

You fought the dragon to free my soul,
Yet foolish.
I mourn you.

I do my dragon’s will until the end;
Yet tender.

"Let the Redeemed of the LORD Say So"

Psalm 107:1-3
"Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south."

A little while back, Dad went through this Psalm in Wednesday night Bible Study. The first three verses are the introduction to the rest of the Psalm.

This Psalm begins book five of the Psalms. It is written to those who are in the Lord's kingdom but are rebelling against Him.

I think a lot of times, we think that rebelling against the Lord means that we have "gone off the deep end" and we're living our lives to completely glorify ourselves and we don't go to church and we're getting drunk, having sex, whatever you believe is the worst sin: that's what rebellion looks like.

But, I think that rebellion covers a much wider range of sins. Going through the motions at church, not really wanting to be there; ignoring convictions; disobeying God-given authority; etc--things that we would shrug off as just the "daily sins" that come with the territory of being a sinner are also rebellion.

Just because we're not going off the deep end doesn't mean we're not rebellion against God.

And yet, God redeems those that are wandering in all the corners of the earth. The rest of the Psalm goes on to talk about the different kinds of people that God redeemed and brought back to His fold.

I thank God that He doesn't give up on His children after the third, fourth, fifth, sixth time they run away from His care and love.

Just a little something to think about this week as we get back into our routines of work, school, family, friends, etc. Everyone is in some stage of rebellion against God--and He's going to chase after us to bring us back to Him.

getting back into the habit (& a photo shoot!)

Well, it's certainly been a while since I've posted. I've been extremely busy with work & friends, and I'm afraid blogging (and writing) has taken a back seat. I need to get back into the habit, so here I am, on a random Tuesday night trying to get back into the habit!

I'm trying to decide what to write blog schedule says I'm supposed to be updating Chelsea's Coffee Table--I guess that can wait because I haven't really been following my schedule lately. Nothing too exciting has happened recently...except J, my dear friend from New York came up for a visit in August! We did a photo shoot so I guess I could share some of those pictures.

thats really all I have for now....I'm off to finish dinner! Bacon & scrambled eggs :)
