coaching again.

Tonight marks the first night of the middle school sports league here in Bonners Ferry. I'm coaching a team of eight 5th & 6th grade girls.

They're hilarious. I love them.

Some of them are just starting to grasp the basic concepts, some are a little more advanced, but they're all just a ton of fun to be around.
They think it's the coolest that I coached college basketball. (Even though they know it wasn't a big school & I wasn't on TV.)
Our team name? I can't even put it on the internet because it's way too embarrassing. I let the girls pick it & vote on it.
Oh my.

Well, fine. I'll tell you.
Big Foot.

I have no idea where that idea came from, but every single one of the girls (except one) absolutely loved it.
(I'm with that one girl that doesn't like it, but I don't want to crush their spirits by vetoing it, so it stands.)

For Christmas, I received an awesome film camera. It's a Canon AE & I love it.
However, I have a lot of learning to do about film & photography.

It also means that until I take the time to scan in all the photos I've taken recently & crop them & edit them, etc. there really won't be many photos on my blog.

I just got the pictures I took in Portland several weeks ago developed today. I put a bunch up on my wall (which is running out of room) & put some in a photo album I have & saved the rest to put in my scrapbook.

I've set goals for myself for each month. This month's is starting a new scrapbook. I have 9 days left to fulfill my goal, but I have to find a suitable album. I've found one online that I want, I just have to wait until I have enough to buy it.

If you're interested at all in scrapbooking, you should check out Creative Memories. They make really great quality albums etc. That's where I found mine....they're just a bit more expensive than I would like...but they're worth it, trust me.

gourmet cooking for Valentine's Day

It's all the same every V-Day...flowers, chocolates, & an overabundance of pink & red.

Yesterday, my mother & I did a little V-Day shopping and got a few little things for the family.
I bought myself a little red cactus.

It's sitting in my window actually.
This morning, I drove my father into town because he had to buy flowers for the grandmothers & something for mom.
We had Dutch Babies for breakfast which was actually more like lunch. They're soo good.

Then, I started to make dessert for dinner tonight:

Sounds delicious right?
More like intense & way too time consuming.

But, I made it anyways & it's chilling in the fridge right now. Waiting to be covered with meringue and more blackberries.
Which reminds me, I need to go make my meringue.

I'm not a gourmet chef/cook/baker/whatever at all. Nope.

sick & mute

Yes, the title unfortunately describes me. Which is really rotten timing since I have 6 concerts to sing in...at the end of this month & we all know February is a very short month.

Ah, well, time to brush up on my sign language.
