When I think about my future, I hope there's a husband and family in it somewhere. I'd like to have a couple books published and maybe even live on the beach. I'd like to finish college.
God has a way of changing our plans. I wanted to play basketball last semester. Basketball is my favorite sport. I wanted to be active and go running. I was planning on it.
On July 8, 2010 I was playing volleyball and I dislocated my ankle and tore two ligaments completely. It pretty much took all activeness out of my plans for at least the next 6 months.
The day after I hurt my ankle I was looking through my devotions notebook. I noticed that the morning of July 8, I read 4 verses that had a huge impact on the way I looked at the injury.
Lamentations 3:22-23 - "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end.; they are new every morning, great is your faithfulness."
Romans 8:28 - "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."
Romans 9:16 - "So then it depends not on human will or exertion but on God, who has mercy."
I look back and realize that God put those verses in front of me that morning in preparation for what was to come.
These 4 verses have become my life verses. The verses I go to when something "goes wrong" in my life. God has a plan for me. And while I may not understand it or like it at the time, I know that it is for my benefit and his glory.
